Hi, I’m Samantha!

I'm a therapist and practice owner of Your Self Care Therapy. I am licensed to practice in the state of New Jersey.

As a therapist, my aim is to provide a modern, relatable, and client-focused approach to therapy that offers long-term maintenance of symptoms. Put simply, if you are willing to embrace change and remain committed to therapy, you can reduce your feelings of anxiety, stress, and conflict (no...therapy is not a quick fix, but it can be a sustainable change to last you a lifetime!)

Accessing therapy for the first time can certainly feel scary, but it doesn't have to be. It is important to find a therapist that you feel comfortable with. Finding a therapist that you are able to relate to, is a step closer to gaining the most out of therapy sessions.   In my practice, I work with millennial women and teens dealing with anxiety, stress, and major life changes. I am a modern therapist, which means that at times, I might bring up movies, and trending music, or might even welcome “real language.”  I work with my clients to provide a supportive environment where they feel comfortable enough to be their vulnerable selves and process any barriers that hold them back from being the best versions of themselves!

MY APPROACH

My therapy approach is easy.

I do not believe in the “one size fits all” and in all the fancy therapy jargon. I practice a modern approach to mental health therapy. It’s simple, I meet you where you are and let you guide the therapy that you need. Together we will plan small steps in achieving your future goals.  Therapy is a form of Self-Care; it is when you give yourself permission to pause to focus on you. Therapy will allow you to get things off your chest in a confidential and safe space. My goal is to create a welcoming, supportive environment where you can feel comfortable to navigate all challenging life experiences and gain new skills and insight to regain control over your life and break free from what is holding you back from moving forward in life.

Here are a few reasons on how my practice is so different from others  or how I might be a good fit for your  needs.

I DON’T:

Ask you “how do you feel about that?” after you express your feelings.

Speak the whole session and do not give you an opportunity to voice your concern.

Use fancy therapy jargon.

Judge you or make you feel that your “problems” aren’t big enough, THEY MATTER!

Structure my practice so you fit my methods; my therapy focuses on starting where you are!

Try to shame your mental health experience; everyone experiences these challenges in their own ways.

I DO:

Work together as a partnership rather than authority.

Remain transparent and real as a person, encouraging you to feel comfortable and safe to express concerns.

Sit in the room with you as you you sort your thoughts & feelings.

Understand that you are the expert in YOUR life.

Understand that you are a client and not a patient!

Offer teletherapy and in-person sessions, to make therapy more accessible.

Have you engage action plans between sessions.

Welcome real language in session. I want you to show up and be able to express yourself, this can include cursing sometimes.
