DO YOU OFFER A CONSULTATION BEFORE SCHEDULING A FIRST APPOINTMENT?

Yes, I offer a free 15-minute consultation to determine if we are a good fit. During the consultation phone call, we will discuss what brought you to therapy and what you would like to work on. Then, I'll tell you about my therapeutic modalities and ways to help you reach your goals. If we are a good match, together we discuss logistics and the next steps. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have during the consultation.

SO WE’RE A GOOD FIT, WHAT’S NEXT?

Our first therapy appointment will be scheduled after our intro call. I'll send you some quick forms to fill out before our first appointment.

HOW DO ONLINE SESSIONS WORK?

Since we are having sessions virtually, I ask that you pick a day and time that allows you to find a private space with little to no interruptions. You will receive a HIPPA-compliant link, where we will have our sessions. I ask that you create more privacy for yourself by either wearing headphones or closing a door if you can. Come to the session with an idea of what has been causing you the most stress or distress, what it would look like if that problem was solved, and what is most important for us to start exploring.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING A FIRST APPOINTMENT WITH YOU?

When you come to your first appointment, we try to shake off those nervous jitters. I will typically share some information to help you get to know me and make you feel more comfortable.

I will spend 5-10 minutes at the beginning of your session to review your Informed Consent form and discuss our policies. In order to make things easier, I believe in collaborating and providing a nonjudgmental, and relatable approach. I believe in and value transparency; therefore, it's important you know what to expect from me as a therapist, as well as what I expect from you as a client. You can also ask any questions that you may have.

We will then spend the remainder of our time going through your Intake Questionnaire, and complete an assessment to understand your journey. I will listen and we might side-track once or twice, but that is okay! By the end of the initial session together we will have your goals written down and have formulated a treatment plan.

How long will I be in therapy for?

This can be entirely up to you and your circumstances. Every client seeks therapy for many different reasons. Some come to therapy looking for short-term goal achievement and others come to therapy for long-term supportive relationships. Some clients will come to therapy once a week and others can come to therapy sporadically. We will discuss all this during our first session together. I recommend consistent sessions at first to build the therapeutic relationship and change as needed.

HOW OFTEN WILL WE MEET?

This is completely up to you! The frequency of your visits depends on your needs and how much support you desire. Most clients come weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly; however, it is up to you. In order to see results right away, I recommend that new clients meet with me weekly for at least the first six weeks. Based on the progress made, I will reevaluate and can decrease the frequency of bi-weekly sessions.

CAN YOU WORK WITH CLIENTS FROM ANY STATE?

I am licensed to work with residents of New Jersey.

Are there any mental health concerns that you do not treat?

Yes, I do not practice outside my scope of competence.  I do not treat addictions, eating disorders, or suicidality. It is my professional code of ethics to not work outside of my scope of practice. For those clients that I believe would be treated by a different professional, I will assist in providing a referral.

RATES AND PAYMENT FAQ

  • 45 minute Individual Therapy session rate is $200. For insurance companies, I am considered an out-of-network provider. When it comes to privacy, confidentiality, and flexibility, paying out-of-pocket is a great option.

  • Some insurance plans allow you to use out-of-network benefits. At time of appointment, you will be responsible for paying for all sessions in full. In certain cases, I can provide you with a super bill so that you can submit it to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

  • You can use the out-of-network reimbursement calculator below to get an individualized estimate of what your costs will be using your out-of-network benefits!

Most out-of-network insurance companies will reimburse you 60-80% of each session's cost if you have out-of-network benefits.

Upon request, I will provide you with monthly invoices, referred to as "super bills," which include all the information needed to process your claims.

  • It’s super simple! A majority of insurance companies require you to upload your monthly superbill online (it will be mailed to you on the 1st of each month) and then they will mail you a check.

A good idea is to phone the Member Services number on the back of your health insurance card.

You can ask them the following questions:

Do I have out-of-network outpatient mental health coverage? Am I able to use these benefits for telehealth?

    What is my out-of-network deductible?

How much of my deductible has been met this year?

Do I need a referral from an in-network provider to see someone out-of-network?

What percentage of outpatient psychotherapy sessions are covered per session?

How much will I be reimbursed for a 45 minute psychotherapy session (CPT code: 90834)?

How do I submit claim forms for reimbursement?

How long does it take for me to receive reimbursement?

  • Yes. As part of my modern mental health approach, therapy should be accessible to everyone. During our first session, we can discuss any financial hardship that can be a barrier in participating in therapy. I have sliding spots available in my schedule.

In the event that I cannot offer you a sliding scale spot, I will gladly refer you to a trusted clinician in the area if I am unable to do so.

If you’re hoping to find an in-network provider, www.psychologytoday.com is a great resource.

  • For payment, you can pay prior to the end of our appointment. I take credit card, cash, or direct deposit. If you do not have out-of-network benefits you can use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Savings Account (FSA), this helps to reduce the cost of therapy as you are able to pay for it with pre-tax dollars. Failure of payment will result in termination of services.

  • I require 24-hour notice to cancel appointments without financial repercussion, otherwise, you will be charged a $75 fee for missed or a late-canceled appointment.
